Active Tree Services is expanding its commercial division in Hobart, and we are looking for an exceptional Operations Manager to help lead that growth.

This role is not for an average arborist stepping up. We are seeking a highly skilled industry professional with deep hands-on experience across all aspects of tree work, strong leadership ability, and the drive to build and run a high-performing commercial operation.

If you’ve worked on major projects, understand machinery, safety systems, contracts, and people - and want to be paid properly for your expertise - this role is for you.

The Role

You will take ownership of the day‑to‑day operations of our commercial division, leading and mentoring arborists, climbers, and machine operators while planning and delivering complex commercial projects.

This role requires high standards of safety, quality, and productivity, with a hands‑on approach that balances working on the tools and providing strong leadership. You will also coordinate machinery, logistics, and workflow and play a key role in the continued growth and development of our commercial division.

What we need for you: -

• A current and unrestricted drivers’ licence
• 5–8+ years’ industry experience in all aspects of tree work
• Minimum Cert III in Arboriculture (higher qualifications advantageous)
• Proven climbing experience on large and technical trees
• Excavator operation experience (grabs, mulchers, attachments)
• EWP ticket and MR licence (HR preferred)
• Strong WHS knowledge, mechanical awareness, and professional work ethic
• Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power-point and Outlook)
• Ability to travel for short periods at time
